Ban Krut to Chumpon (day four)

Thursday 21 January 2010

As a group we all felt the heat notch up a level as we covered 130kms.  It was big hills and lots of them today.  Long day, not many shady spots or breeze made this the most challenging one we have faced yet.

Tom Kokoris had a big effort, flying past everyone to take the lead and power up the hills.  The lead pack was averaging approximately 39km per hour  up hills with Tom leading the charge.  Great effort Tom.

Andrew Moyston gets a special mention for his amazing stamina.  He joined the front pack today and kept his place all the way to the end.  Absolutely amazing effort considering the difficult conditions we rode in.  Brilliant stuff.

Michael Jackson was the star of the day, keeping everyone's spirits up when we were feeling pretty beat.  Gotta love Jacko and his positive energy considering he had to contend with a flat tyre (his third puncture for the trip so far).  Thank you MJ - we love your spirit!!

Waking up at 4:30am to do a 10km run up a steep hill before heading out to encounter one of our hardest and longest days of the tour was Steph Ellis and Michael Doyle.  Not only did they complete the run and raise $4,000 for Hands but they did it in under an hour.  Fabulous work... we are all in awe of their fitness and level of commitment.  Seriously amazing!!

Dave Musumeci also had an early start to the day having a little vomie after his afternoon of beers in the pool.  Poor Dave... he looked a little slower and quiet today.

Tomorrow is a rest day before we head inland.  Beach, beers and a thai massage is on the cards for all.
