Chumpon to Pak Nam Lang Suan (day six)
Saturday 23 January 2010 One of our hottest days so far and didn't we all feel it. We covered 110kms heading down the east coast. After the first 35kms we were all sweating and feeling the increase in humidity. Quote for the day goes to Lisa Cocksedge who said she felt like she was back doing bikram yoga because the air was so sticky and uncomfortable. Lyle van Leeuwen powered through the hills helping pull Kelsey Baines along behind him. Keeping his pedals turning was the soulful voice of Donna Summers. Got to love a good disco beat to get those legs working. Jimmy Fitzgerald, Mark Lias and Gavin Flannery cruised through today's terraine chatting and smiling all the way. We want to test them and find out what they are on because there is no way anyone can be that hot and that happy. Mark gets the creative thinking award by designing his own iPod holder. He now keeps it stuck in the top of his helmet, like an antenna... much easier access that way! Tom Kokorous was on fire. We are requesting drug testing because he seems to be doing this ride so easily. We are all thoroughly impressed Tom. The Rat Pack (Bobby Cox, Darren Spencer, Ed Jackson & Michael Doyle) spent most of the day at the front of the group setting a heart pumping pace. Not onlydid these boys arrive at each water stop first they also bravely jumped on their bikes and rode back to join the riders down the back of the pack providing extra support and encouragement particularily on some of the bigger hills we saw today. Thank you boys... what big hearts and legs. |
